Publication Ethics & Malpractise
CJMS requires strict adherence to ethical standards. We follow guidelines from COPE, ICMJE, and WAME. Our Ethics and Malpractice Statement is published online, detailing misconduct policies. Key points:
- Plagiarism and Redundancy: Any form of plagiarism (text, data, self-plagiarism) leads to rejection or retraction. Duplicate submission to multiple journals is prohibited.
- Data Fabrication/Falsification: Fabrication or misrepresentation of data is not tolerated. Suspected cases trigger a formal investigation (COPE flowchart) and may result in article retraction.
- Confidentiality: As per COPE, submitted manuscripts are privileged communications. Authors must not use privileged information (e.g., reviewer identities or unpublished content) for their own benefit.
- Corrections and Retractions: CJMS commits to correcting the record. Minor errors may be addressed via errata; serious issues lead to retraction or expression of concern. All notices are linked to the original article for transparency.
- Appeals/Complaints: A formal appeals mechanism is in place. If an author disputes a decision or encounters unethical behavior, they may contact the Editor-in-Chief with evidence. Such cases are reviewed objectively.
