Data and Reproduction Policy

Data and Reproduction Policy

The journal champions reproducible research. Authors are encouraged to provide data, code, and methods details so that others can replicate the results. Key points:

  • Data Sharing: In line with Nature Portfolio standards, authors of original research must include a Data Availability Statement and deposit their “minimum dataset” in a public repository (discipline-specific or general, e.g. Dryad, Zenodo, Figshare) wherever possible. Data should be accompanied by metadata and citations. If data have legal or ethical restrictions, authors must explain. Unavailability of critical data may delay or prevent publication.
  • Code and Materials: When applicable, authors should also share analysis code, algorithms, or experimental protocols via supplementary files or repositories (GitHub, Code Ocean). Transparency in code supports verification and reuse.
  • Reporting Standards: For empirical studies, authors should follow reporting guidelines (e.g. CONSORT, PRISMA if relevant) and may be asked to submit checklists. Detailed methods allow replication.
  • Reproducibility Checks: Editors or reviewers may request raw data or calculations if needed to resolve queries. The journal reserves the right to publish an expression of concern or correction if reproducibility issues arise post-publication.

This policy echoes COPE/DOAJ principles on data sharing and emphasizes that the validity of findings depends on accessible data. The Data Policy page will explain these requirements and recommend suitable repositories.
