Metadata & DOI Assignment

Metadata & DOI Assignment

To maximize discoverability, every article will receive a CrossRef DOI with rich metadata:

  • DOI Assignment: As a CrossRef member, the journal will assign a DOI (prefix + suffix) to each published item (article, correction, etc.). The DOI ensures a persistent, citable link to the article even if URLs change.
  • Metadata Quality: We will deposit comprehensive metadata with CrossRef, including authors’ ORCID iDs, abstracts, keywords, references, funder information, and license data. As recommended by CrossRef, richer metadata improves discoverability. Full bibliographic metadata and machine-readable license and access status will be included.
  • CrossRef Services: Participation in CrossRef enables the journal to use services like Cited-by and Crossmark. We will register references in each deposit so that citation linking works across publishers. We will also leverage CrossRef Similarity Check (iThenticate) for screening.
  • ORCID Integration: The submission system will collect ORCID iDs and these will be included in metadata, facilitating author disambiguation. We encourage all authors to have ORCID iDs.

The Metadata & DOIs page will state that DOIs are assigned and metadata is updated via CrossRef, meeting Plan S and CrossRef best practices for openness and linking.
